Beansprouts Muchim

Oh boy… am I glad that this day is almost over. I’m just so glad that I am able to end this day with a new post. I almost wanted to go to bed instead – but I know I’ve been too lazy with updating my blog lately so I knew I shouldn’t put it off any longer. It’s been hectic around here lately. We just bought a new home and we’re going through escrow now. You know how crazy it can be. We’ve also been doing something fun and exciting, like going to Costco and Target to get some decorations for the new house. Today, we bought a new couch! And we only paid $850 for a sectional and an ottoman! Yippee!

Today, I’d like to share a Korean recipe called “Kong-na-mul Mu-chim” It is a great side dish for any rice and soup kind of meal. It is really easy to fix it, too, with simple ingredients such as beansprouts, sesame oil, garlic, salt, and green onions. Sometimes I like to add a pinch of ground red pepper flakes to spice it up a little.

{Korean} Bean Sprouts Muchim

Ingredients

  • 10 1/2 oz (300g) soybean sprouts
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoons minced green onion
  • 1 teaspoon crushed garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper flakes

Directions

  1. Discard roots of soybean sprouts. Wash and place in a pan. Add enough water to cover and a pinch of salt, cover and cook over medium heat 10 minutes. When the smell of cooked beans comes out, drain and cool. Combine sesame oil, green onion, garlic, salt and red pepper flakes and season the sprouts.
